Help recover Chris Wenzel Remains

This is not the story we hoped to tell but sadly it has come to this and we are asking friends, family and former clients for your help. Everyone is aware that Chris passed away in 2018 and His wife Cheryl honoured his wish by preserving his tattoos thru Save my Ink. She proudly toured and displayed his tattoos in the studio Electric Underground. The beginning of 2020 began to be a real struggle for Cheryl and with tattoo studios being shut down and not being able to operate, Cheryl was not able to pay rent and when they where allowed to reopen she could not run the business as she had lost her staff.
Because of her failure to pay, the landlord of course locked her out and took possession of all the items in the studio including Chris's remains. Cheryl has not been able to raise the money herself to retrieve them and at this point we have stepped in to help after we were able to talk to the landlord and discover that if we do not pay the back rent, his remains will be auctioned off.
Her friends and family have contacted the landlord and they have given us some grace time to see if we can raise the funds to ensure Chris is not forever lost as well to pay for the gravestone she also could not completely pay off. 2020 was hard on so many people and this is just another business lost to covid but it would be wonderful if we can obtain his remains back as well the personal unreplaceable possessions
This fundraiser is being supported by friends of the family as well as family members. It has been organized by Cody (Chris and Cheryls son) Keith Winterbottom (friend) Leanne Thompson-Hill (friend) and Family Member Nicole Ballantyne.
Anything over and above after costs will be donated to SCYAP for an art scholarship in Chris's name.
A lot of questions always get asked when fundraising happens, some are very personal and we ask that you respect the family by not being mean or ill willed. Please understand that these funds are going directly to the landlord and the funeral home to cover those bills. Our main objective is to pay the rent off to retrieve Chris's remains. It is legal for the landlord to hold these items till the rent is paid in full. Cheryl is NOT apart of the fundraiser and will not be receiving funds of any kind. The funds again are being managed by those who are listed above and Cody will have the last say on how things are managed.
