Help Rebuild The Canopy Sierras

Donation protected
Over the past week, The Creek Fire has devastated over 200,000+ acres and counting, demanding evacuation of Shaver Lake and all the areas around the Sierras leaving us in a state of shock and unknown. This fire has destroyed our neighbor’s homes, businesses, livelihoods and so much more. Unfortunately, we (Jeff & Matt Alligood) were among some of the many in this beautiful mountain community of Shaver Lake to lose our home and our business.

In December 2017, we set off on a journey from Pennsylvania to go build our dream in the sierra mountains of California.  Our mission was to build off-grid tiny houses out in nature where people could go to escape the busyness of life and go reconnect with themselves and their loved ones in nature.

As we have watched our vision come to life from deserted land to a forest retreat we have been lucky enough to witness so many people’s special moments up there. Guests have proposed to their partners, countless anniversaries and birthdays have been celebrated and one couple went as far to name their child after the space.

Over the past few years we have put all our energy, time and saved money into building every part of this space from the ground up into this magical getaway called The Canopy Sierras.  This campaign is designed to help us get back on our feet after losing a large portion of our business to the devastating Creek Fire.

Details of Fundraiser:

·      Funds raised through this campaign are not a band aid. These funds will be used to build The Canopy with the same spirit, the same passion and the same commitment to community.

·      The cost to build the house, shed, shower, bathroom and tools was $25,000 plus thousands of hours from ourselves, friends and family.

·      All funds raised through this campaign will be spent doing the following:

o Buying Tools to build structures (All tools lost in the fire) (Generator, Saws, Drills, hand tools, etc.) ($2,000)

o Materials to Rebuild the Tiny House (Cost of Materials originally $18,500)

o Materials to Rebuild the Shower  (Cost of Materials, water tank, piping, hot water heater, etc. originally $2,000)

o Materials to Rebuild the Shed (Cost of Materials originally $1,500)

o Materials to Rebuild the Bathroom (Cost of Materials originally $1,000)

We hope to raise $10,000 to start the journey of rebuilding this space so we can get back on our feet by next year and reopen to guests by the spring. If you are unable to give, we appreciate any share, prayer or good vibe.

UPDATE: We were hoping to raise $10,000 of the $25,000 that we spent to build all of these structures, but because of the overwhelming love, support, and donations we will be raising the goal to $20,000. Thank you from the bottom our hearts.

Lastly, We will keep all donors up to date with our progress on our Instagram as we plan to document the entire experience of the rebuild effort at The Canopy as well as throughout Shaver Lake starting October of this year.
