Last week our hearts shattered as Hurricane Irma destroyed several Caribbean Islands, especially our Sweet St. Maarten. Irma was stated a category five hurricane with winds topping to 365 km/h. Irma's top wind speeds was listed to be the second strongest maximum winds to hit the Atlantic. Leaving our Island 95% destroyed, billions of dollars in property damage, and currently an unknown amount of lives lost and people still declared missing. With limited basic resources the people are in a state of complete desperation.This has led our Island to start from scratch forming itself anew, physically and emotionally.
It has not been easy for our people to see the light at the end of the tunnel, especially as more storms continue to brew in the Caribbean during this unreal Hurricane season. Nonetheless, I believe the Lord will use this time to strengthen our community, help us realize the faults in our building structure, and rebuild our island stronger and more beautiful than it ever was. Though this process won’t be done overnight, but by your support we can play a role in the rebuilding of a place many of us call home.
At the moment a large amount of funding is going towards water, food, and daily necessities for our Island, which is needed at this crucial moment. Which is why I and a few other St. Maarteners felt led to create this funding page in order to provide relief to survivors in the form of long term recovery assistance to help the People of St. Maarten to rebuild. Our Goal is to raise as much funds as possible in the next two to three months, since at this moment peoples necessities will differ from now till November/ December, and Hurricane season will finally be over. This money will be going towards the rebuilding of homes of the most needy which will be appointed by local churches and foundations, directed to the elderly and families containing multiple children, who have lost everything. Fortunately, My family has to our disposal a group of dedicated professional construction workers that will help rebuild roofs and other essentials for basic sanitary living conditions. When we begin this process I will be photographing and updating everyone on the individuals we’ve been able to bless because of your donations, in order that you can be actively apart of the process from beginning till end.

La semana pasada nuestros corazones se rompieron cuando el huracán Irma destruyó varias islas del Caribe, especialmente nuestro Sweet St. Maarten. Irma fue declarado huracán categoría cinco con vientos topping a 365 km / h. Las velocidades máximas del viento de Irma fueron enumeradas para ser los segundos vientos máximos más fuertes para golpear el Atlántico. Dejando nuestra isla 95% destruida, miles de millones de dólares en daños a la propiedad, y actualmente una cantidad desconocida de vidas perdidas y personas aún declaradas desaparecidas. Con recursos básicos limitados, las personas están en un estado de completa desesperación. Esto ha llevado a nuestra Isla a empezar desde cero, formándose de nuevo, física y emocionalmente.
No ha sido fácil para nuestra gente ver la luz al final del túnel, especialmente mientras más tormentas continúan produciendo en el Caribe durante esta temporada de huracanes irreales. Sin embargo, creo que el Señor usará este tiempo para fortalecer nuestra comunidad, ayudarnos a darnos cuenta de las fallas en nuestra estructura de construcción y reconstruir nuestra isla más fuerte y más hermosa de lo que nunca fue. Aunque este proceso no se hará de la noche a la mañana, pero por su apoyo podemos desempeñar un papel en la reconstrucción de un lugar que muchos de nosotros llamamos hogar.
Actualmente, una gran cantidad de fondos se destinan al agua, la comida y las necesidades diarias para nuestra Isla, que se necesita en este momento crucial. Es por eso que yo y algunos otros St. Maarteners nos sentimos llevados a crear esta página de financiación con el fin de proporcionar alivio a los sobrevivientes en forma de asistencia a largo plazo de recuperación para ayudar a la gente de St. Maarten para reconstruir. Nuestro objetivo es recaudar tanto dinero como sea posible en los próximos dos o tres meses, ya que en este momento las necesidades de las personas serán diferentes de ahora a noviembre / diciembre, y la temporada de huracanes finalmente terminará. Este dinero se destinará a la reconstrucción de los hogares de los más necesitados, que serán designados por las iglesias y fundaciones locales, dirigidos a los ancianos ya las familias con múltiples hijos, que lo han perdido todo. Afortunadamente, Mi familia tiene a nuestra disposición un grupo de trabajadores dedicados a la construcción que ayudarán a reconstruir techos y otros elementos esenciales para las condiciones básicas de vida sanitaria.
