Hi! We're David & Amber Carson. We own a small farm in Barnardsville, North Carolina, Hurricane Helene wiped out a good portion of our property, Roads, Our Bridge, Equipment, Trucks, and Building Supplies.
Everything that was stored in our back field is gone - chain link fence, sheets of metal roofing, tractor, implements, a farm truck, trailers, and my personal SUV were all washed away. Our antique furniture that was housed in tractor trailers back there, were also flooded and destroyed. We filed for help with rejection responses from everyone (FEMA, 2 Ins. companies)!
The driveway was also washed completely away, it held the abutment to our bridge and the whole Road Needs Rebuilt in order to have land to anchor the bridge to - then build the NEW Bridge!
These are huge tasks that will take Engineers and Heavy Machinery to even begin putting things back in place.
We've gotten 2 estimates and the cheapest is over $140,000 - we think we can do it for a lot less!!! It's time to start rebuilding and repairing OUR FARM, but we NEED YOUR HELP!
We have not just sat idly by! We have purchased a trackhoe to start cleaning up ourselves!
We will still be using our Airbnbs to house and feeding volunteers. We are still building tiny houses here and storing newly built sheds (made into tiny houses), as well as camper trailers to deliver to families still in tents. The goal is to get everyone out of the cold before ANYONE ELSE FREEZES TO DEATH!!!
We see volunteers packing up and headed out every day. We are doing everything we can to keep them here!!!
Doing this and not having Airbnbs for a source of income has done a lot to help people in and outside our little community, but has really cut us short of funds for everything we need for this project!
We are just 1 family of the 1000's affected but we really need to start rebuilding our farm and livelihood too! Any amount of help would be greatly appreciated.
AND......
When we get the Bridge, Farm, and Animals back in order and it's safe to vist, we'd love to invite you down to stay with us!
Thank you
David and Amber Carson
