Help Rebuild Neighborhood Market, Sioux Falls, SD

SD Voices for Peace and Startup Sioux Falls is asking the community to help rebuild the Neighborhood Market on the East Side of Sioux Falls. The market opened in January 2022, and owners Hayder Hayyawi and Reem Alsulaimawi have received over a dozen threats of violence, and now it's 3rd and most severe act of vandalism. This immigrant-owned business has contributed to the diverse tapestry of our growing community and is the only source of income for the family. The vandalism consisted of hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage to the register systems, loss of inventory, and damage to the doors, windows and other items in the store. They just spent $300,000 to upgrade their kitchen and now have to wait until inspections to re-open. Money raised here will go directly to the store owners to rebuild their business, add security cameras, security guards and help them open back up as soon as possible.
SD Voices for Peace's mission is to build power and enable healing in immigrant, refugee and Muslim communities by amplifying their voices and working in solidarity with all who dismantle bigotry and racism.
Startup Sioux Falls is an ecosystem organization that empowers founders by offering resources to network, launch, and grow their ventures. They believe that fostering entrepreneurship builds better communities
