Help rebuild Jose's home in Iquitos

At around midnight on Thursday October 5th, Jose's house burned completely to the ground. Thankfully, his wife, three grandchildren and his dog made it out ok. But as seen in the photo, there is nothing left --- clothes, appliances, food, toys, furniture, tools,  his daughter's dental instruments, and everything a family collects in a lifetime... is gone.

They need our help.

Please consider giving a generous donation --- $100 or more would be wonderful but anything would be appreciated. Don't forget to "Leave a Comment" for Jose and his family below.

A donor to Amazon Promise (http://amazonpromise.org/ ) has already said that he will match all donations up to $5,000.

So if we raise $5,000+ Jose and his family will receive at least $10,000 to start their rebuilding process (we estimate he will need $15-20k to rebuild his home and replace lost items). Donations to this gofundme page or to the Amazon Promise donation page will count toward this $5,000.

Jose and his family are the most kind and thoughtful people. His daughter, son-in-law, and beautiful granddaughter all live with him and his wife Maria.

For those of you who don't know:
-Jose has completed 7 rainwater catchment systems for rural  indigenous villages in the Peruvian Amazon region over the last several years. He is an expert in this field --- both in building the systems and in the subtle nuances of achieving behavioral change in the villager's lifestyles to properly use and maintain the systems.
- He spends countless hours, days, and weeks helping with all the preparation that goes into completing one of these projects.
- He is the in-country connection for Engineers Without Borders chapters (Sonoma, Houston, Oklahoma City, and San Diego) to help with these projects. He handles all of the logistics for the projects including material procurement, lodging, translation, transportation, and much more. The existing friendships and trust he has built with these communities is invaluable to their success.
-He has also worked for Amazon Promise for over 24 years. As the Special Projects Manager he coordinates and assists with medical and dental missions to remote jungle villages that are barely touched by the western world.
- He is an expert jungle guide and English/German/some French to Spanish translator (self-taught).
- He is an amazing person that is understandably distraught at the devastation that this fire has caused.

Let's help Jose re-build his home. He has positively impacted and improved the lives of so many people, this is a great chance for us to give back to him and show him our love and support.

This is the rainwater system that Jose helped to design and build, that was just completed this week. He returned to Iquitos from this village to find his house had been burned down just 8 hours before.
