Help us rebuild homes in Lombok

On the 5th of August, the Indonesian island of Lombok experienced a devastating earthquake that registered 7.0 on the Richter scale. This was in addition to a 6.9 earthquake on the 19th of August, a 6.4 earthquake on the 29th of July, and hundreds of aftershocks. The power of this earthquake was felt in the Gili Islands off the northwest coast of Lombok as well as the islands of Bali and Sumbawa, however, North Lombok sustained the most damage and continues to need outside assistance.
Recovery for Lombok from this disaster is a marathon effort, there are months of support ahead of us. With the rainy season coming, the importance of shelter and sanitation solutions are even more pressing.
Out of the 80 staff members from Pesona Beach Resort and Azure Spa, 35 homes were completely destroyed. As they do not have enough money to build a new home, these staff and their families are now living in tents and makeshift shelters of tarpaulin the last 2 months. As most villages have been converted to tent cities, there is also a lack of clean water and sanitation. Many have to visit local water canals and small streams sometimes multiple kilometres away to bath, use for toilets, laundry, and collect water for cooking.
We would like to use this donation money to build temporary shelters and public showers and toilets to last at least through the rainy season (October-March) if not years. This is not a permanent solution but should be sufficient to curb the spread of illness as mosquito-borne diseases like Malaria and Dengue that are already on the rise as is persistent diarrhea.

The funds will then be transferred to the Pesona Indonesian account or to the suppliers for building materials directly. If your donations are more than is needed for Pesona Staff to rebuild their homes, the remaining funds will be donated to the Pituq Community Foundation (www.pituq.com) for their continuing projects and service to the affected areas of Lombok.
