Help Rebuild Homes for Victims of Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aarshiya, and I'm an undergraduate psychology student at UMBC.
As many of you know, Hurricane Helene devastated the U.S. in September 2024, causing at least 250 fatalities and causing an estimated $78.7 billion in damages (National Hurricane Center, 2025). This makes it the deadliest hurricane in the U.S. since Katrina in 2005.
FEMA, under the Trump Administration, also has denied North Carolina’s governor Josh Stein’s request to extend their 100% reimbursement period to victims of Hurricane Helene. The extension would have covered an additional 180 days of 100% federal reimbursement for cleanup and rebuilding (MSN, 2025).
In response, I've partnered with Ms. Kate Lloyd from Habitat for Humanity (North Carolina) and Mr. Patrick Campbell from Montgomery County Health and Human Services and decided to organize a fundraiser for Hurricane Helene victims in the North Carolina region. All proceeds will go directly to Habitat for Humanity’s longterm disaster relief, so they may help rebuild homes for families, children, and pets affected by this tragedy.
To start, I'll be hosting bake sales and extending this fundraiser to my family, friends, and community. Every donation matters, even $5!
Together, we can bring hope and healing as a community.
Thank you so much for your support :) <3
