On Thursday 9th September a devastating fire gutted the entire top floor of the Gary Marvin Memorial Hospital in Kotwi, Ghana! We need your help to reopen it now!

Thankfully all the patients and staff were evacuated safely.

But the top floor and hospital equipment were burned to ashes.

The damage is extensive!

Top floor walls and entire roof are beyond repair
Pharmacy store room with medical supplies is gone
Drug manufacturing room has been destroyed
Blood bank with a specialised fridge for storing blood products is beyond recognition
CT scanner equipment...lost
3 ECG machines...ashes
3 oxygen compressors...
Autoclave and sterilising equipment...
Audiometry Centre with all the specialised audiometry equipment and soundproof audio booth..
IT server and all the computerised medical files..
Conference room with all the furniture and AV equipment..
Dr. Frank Frimpong's office with all the IT equipment..
And much more... all gone...

This hospital provides much needed maternity and medical care to a large township, serving a semi-rural population of over 100,000 people. The hospital has 36 inpatients beds, including a children's ward, a large outpatients department, a child health and vaccination clinics, 2 operating theaters, clinics for pregnant women, audiometry, eye clinic and many other diagnostic and medical services. All these vital health services must remain open and available to everyone in the area.
It is the only referral hospital in the district and it needs to reopen so people can receive medical care locally.

A massive clean up operation has already started and the top floor and entire roof are being demolished.

We are fundraising to reopen the hospital as soon as possible. We need funds to support the clean up, rebuilding and refurbishing of the hospital.
