Last year, the dance floor at El Valenciano was damaged due to a major leak in the roof during the heavy rain of winter.
El V has been a home for Tango, Salsa, Bachata, and many other social dances that are pivotal to the cultural fabric of the Mission District and San Francisco at large. We are not only looking to restore the beautiful floor, but to install a real Maple Wood Dance Floor that will last for generations of dancers. Ownership has offered to cover 1/3 of the cost, and we are trying to raise funds to cover the remaining cost of demolition, floor, supplies, and installation labor.
As the director, and as a dancer, of the Latin nights of El Valenciano I understand the importance of having a beautiful and quality floor that provides dancers a canvas for creating art and expression. Music and dance are at the heart of our shared history and it enhances the lives of people from all walks of life. As many venues have closed over the years, El V has remained a home for lovers of Latin Music and Culture.
