<div>In the wake of a devastating house fire on July 1st, Karen Stephens, who is a 71 year old widow, has found herself facing an unimaginable loss just one day after her birthday. Sadly, she has not only lost her home in its entirety, but is also mourning the loss of her dog Suzie and her two cats, Lemieux and Littles, who sadly were lost in the fire. My mother has always been known to be the type to help others in need and never one to ask for help herself, always choosing to serve others before herself. She is a retired veteran having served 20+years in the Army reserve and volunteers as a worker at the LDS Temple in Birmingham AL. She continues to work doing what she loves by managing her horse property in AL and riding. This tragic event has stripped her of everything, leaving her to navigate the long and arduous journey of rebuilding her life from the ashes, and she now stands in the challenging position of needing support herself.

<div>As she starts to pick up the pieces, she has embodied strength, courage, and a stronger faith in God, yet she faces the harsh reality of losing everything and having to start over. <strong>My mother’s unwavering spirit and generosity have always been a beacon of hope for those around her</strong>, and now, as she embarks on this difficult path, the kindness and support of others can help to now restore her light. <strong>We ask that if you are able to provide any type of aid, whether that be supportive messages, financial or other aid, to please help her begin the arduous path of recovery from this tragic event.</strong>

<div><strong>As shown in the picture, miracles/blessings happen even in the wake of tragedy. The items shown were the ONLY things to survive the house fire in the pictured room and were literally pulled from amongst the ashes. Such tender mercies found within.</strong>
