Help Randy Jaramillo in his COVID fight

On 9/14 My Dad Randy was admitted to the hospital for complications related to COVID. Within 24 hours of being admitted he needed to be placed on the ventilator to assist his lungs in the fight for his life.
For over 2 weeks he was in a medically induced a coma  while the ventilator kept him breathing.

During that time his kidneys began to fail and he was placed on dialysis. After a couple of days, many medications and a lot of prayer from friends and family the Drs. we’re able to kick start his kidneys into working again.

Once his ventilator needs started to come down the Drs. stopped giving him sedation medicine to begin weaning him off the ventilator . After 5 days off the sedation medicine and without any sign of Randy waking up Drs. grew concerned. He was taken for a CT scan to check for bleeding in the brain, a blood clot, or any sign of a stroke in an attempt to determine why he wouldn’t wake up.

Because he was a COVID patient my mom and us kids were not allowed to be at the hospital with him. As concern grew  we began taking turns calling into his room and having the nurse put the phone to his ear. We each made pleas for him to wake up. It wasn’t until our mom and his wife of 46 years called that he opened his eyes.

Finally, on 10/05 Dad had woken up enough from his deep sleep and began to follow Drs. instructions.  At that time an attempt was made to transition him off the ventilator. Unfortunately as  the machine was slowly being turned  off it was determined that Randy was too weak to breath on his own. As a result he was transitioned to a tracheostomy.

Almost  immediately after the tracheostomy procedure was completed Randy began to become even more responsive to Drs. commands. By this time he had tested negative and was moved from the COVID ward. Once that happened  our mom was able to be in his room with him. Her presence and encouragement is what we believe he needed to kick start the recovery process.

On 10/10, almost a month after being admitted to the hospital Randy was transferred to a Long Term Acute Hospital to begin the wean off the tracheostomy tube and to help him regain strength and use of his body after nearly three weeks of no movement.

Our dad  has a long road ahead of him, and us kids want to help alleviate some stress off our mothers shoulders by seeking help with what we anticipate will be very large medical bills.

If you are unable to assist financially we would love your prayers for complete healing for our Dad. We as a family would like to thank all who have prayed for us during this incredibly trying time. We love you all.
