Hello, my pup Raines has broken his leg. He got caught on a pole and his femur near the knee area was badly fractured when my roommate Jacob took him outside.

Initial surgery costs have been covered (roughly $6500 after all said and done). However that’s obviously a lot and amputation is still a possibility they said.. anything you can pitch in is a blessing. We’re not rich ya know.

It was just another morning where he was taken outside to go potty and while on the leash he ran at high speed as he was beckoned to come inside to get a treat for being a good boy during potty training. Unfortunately he ran around the wrong side of the wooden support beam that has a cylindrical concrete base and the leash got caught on the beam and his leg slammed into the concrete base in a terrible freak accident. He has not been able to put any weight on it since. He had surgery to fix the fracture and is finally home again resting. He will have a long recovery that requires significant physical therapy. The doctors wanted to amputate to our horror. His recovery and therapy will help determine if he can still keep the leg instead of his muscle potentially calcifying which could render the limb useless. Which would lead to amputation.
