Help a Trans, Nonbinary Mom through a rough patch.

Quinn Airlie is an absolutely amazing woman, devoted mother, loyal friend, tireless trans rights advocate, passionate peer, pillar in many a support network, a shining light in the lives of anyone who knows her, and one of the most open and loving people I have ever had the privilege of having in my life.

Quinn is currently going through a rough combination of events that have hit her all at once, and she needs financial help with legal, medical, and living expenses for her son and herself while she looks for a new job and a more affordable home.

My name is Chloe, I’m a close friend of Quinn’s. She is very important to me, having her in my life has meant a lot. I offered to organize this fundraiser for her in order to allow her more space and energy to focus on everything else. Most importantly: the health and well being of her child and herself.

For more of my musings on why I love Quinn so much, give this video a view :).

Quinn’s current legal fees have, in a very Covid-19 twist of fate, come about just as she was let go from her job. The timing is awful, all of this is a daily emotional and psychological toll that would stretch anyone. On top of that, she has essential medical expenses for daily hormone therapy and mental health medications, as well as the everyday struggles of simply being a single, transgender mom in a world that’s not terribly kind to either of those manifestations of motherhood.

I live in San Francisco, unfortunately quite far from Quinn, yet she has an energy that I can feel across all that distance. The first thing I noticed about her is her warm, welcoming smile, followed by her complete authenticity, the way she shows up unabashedly as herself at all times. Quinn and I met in a work LGBTQIA+ group, and I was blown away by how open she was, sharing her own struggles so candidly at her first meeting. As soon as she did, person after person spoke up and started sharing their own stories, including me. All because Quinn went first and opened that door. Her impression is a lasting one, so lasting in fact that I stuck with her after that job! I didn’t hesitate for a second to help her out, in part because I know that were our circumstances reversed, she would do the same for me, but in larger part because she is a genuinely good person who brightens my day every single time I hear from her. That experience, from what I’m learning, is quite common amongst her loved ones.

All that said, it’s time Quinn took a little rest and let others do the work. Being such a wonderful, loving, and giving person, Quinn has quite naturally built and drawn to her an amazing community of people who love her and are actively offering our help. Many of us who know her well are pitching in where we can, though admittedly a lot of us don’t have much to give in terms of both financial and emotional support, being stretched ourselves. The past several months have been a very trying time for most, and for people in the LGTBQIA+ community, our already rough circumstances are being compounded by this pandemic. We all have each other’s backs, no questions asked. This time, though, Quinn could use some extra help to make it through this rough patch. Crises like this are never easy, but for trans/non-binary folks, they can be devastating. We won’t let Quinn, or her family, slip through the cracks here. She is working and fighting hard, as she always does. We believe in Quinn wholeheartedly and unflinchingly. With some love and support from all of us, Quinn and her family will continue to shine, always.

Let's help them have more lovely days like this:

Thank you for your love and support <3.
