For Quark
 
 
 I’m raising funds for my 14-year-old cat, Quark, who has become seriously ill over the last three weeks. Quark has had a steady decline in his energy, appetite, responsiveness, strength, and coordination, with things becoming much worse since Saturday. He is now very weak, barely eating on his own, stumbling when he walks, sometimes circling to the left, and spending a lot of time seeking dark places or hiding his face. We have taken him to his regular veterinarian several times. His bloodwork showed a significantly elevated white blood cell count and neutrophils, along with some other abnormalities, so we know something is going on in his body, but we still do not know what is causing it. He has received fluids, antibiotics, and supportive care. Because of the progressive changes in his coordination and behavior, his veterinarian is now referring him to a veterinary neurologist in Tustin. The neurologist may recommend advanced diagnostics, including an MRI, and we have been told the MRI alone could cost approximately $3,100 to $4,700 before any treatment that might be needed afterward. 
 
 
 The money raised here will go toward Quark’s neurologist consultation, MRI or other diagnostic testing, medications, follow-up specialist care, treatment, and the veterinary care he has already needed while we try to find out what is happening to him. I’ve spent most of the last several days beside him, helping him eat and drink and keeping an eye on him. And despite how sick he is, there are still flashes of Quark in there. He still purrs sometimes, wanders around to see the other cats, and occasionally decides he has enough energy to remind one of them that he is supposedly in charge. If you know Quark, you know what a sweet, ridiculous, affectionate cat he is. He has been part of our family for years, and right now I just want to give him the best chance possible to find out what is wrong and help him feel like himself again. I do not take asking people for money lightly. If you can contribute anything toward Quark’s care, I would be deeply grateful. Even a small donation helps.
