HELP PUT LIFE SAVING BOOKS IN THE HANDS OF KIDS IN AFRICA –

CLOSE THE COVID19 LEARNING GAP AND SUPPORT OUR DELIVERY OF PRINTABLE READING BOOKS

We need to keep distributing books which give teachers the tools to teach with confidence.

We have 40,000 downloadable and printable books which can be accessed at different reading levels. The book gives literacy skills in science, math, writing, vocabulary and spelling.

 

Please help us fund licenses and printing costs of books for libraries. We are giving the gift of quality education. Quality education in Africa means, getting a basic education that will help a child break the cycle of poverty. This is why we call these books, live saving. A good education also gives good health, and raises good leaders, and overall impacts everyone in the rest of the world.

 

Bridge Africa was set up in 2017 to enhance quality education by giving donations to schools. Nine months ago we started working differently to make an impact in the lives of vulnerable and orphaned children, and children from a low income family.

We begun to partner with the community schools where these children go to school. We work hand in hand with the community schools, through 4 major programs. Schools supplies, STEM activities, Reading to achieve books, and Social Emotional learning workshops to engage teachers and students in a new approach of learning. This has helped reduce school drop outs, and general mental health and the emotional wellbeing of each child.

 

We begun to partner with the community schools to add to their limited resources. We knew they were working hard to break the cycle of poverty in their community. Over the past 9 months we have partnered with 23 organizations, in 10 Africa countries, with access to over 100,000 kids. An example of a school we partnered with was, Welicar School in Kenya. We were so impressed by the Principal who grew up in the slums, and was determined to help kids in the slums by setting up a school for them. We provided him with books and basic school supplies for the kids.

 

We have invested over $35,000 of our own funds, but want to do more! We all know if a child falls behind in reading it can have a lagging effect throughout their lives. 

Most schools are now back in person, worldwide since the COVID 19 lockdown. The learning gap  on education in Africa is HUGE! In our partner schools, there was no virtual learning. No computers. No remote learning. Our Read to achieve Books, to take home, with discussion sheets attached would have helped, especially with the areas where they need special help.

 

With Bridge Africa Foundation, schools and Kids can have access to science, literature, math, writing, spelling based reading methods. These books also come in pocket sizes for every child to take home. What more a teacher does not need to be trained to see their students achieve their literacy goals. The integrated discussion sheets and workbooks helps every teacher access the tools they need to teach with confidence.

 

Some will ask why not make these books available on a tablet?. Some of these schools suffer outages most of the day, and some classrooms have no access to sockets for charging enough tablets overnight. For those who can use tablets, we are talking to companies to help us with this effort.
