Help Protect Colorado Landlords & Property Owners
Please consider donating to help offset the cost of our lobbying efforts; we are looking to raise $10,000, which is nowhere near the total cost but would ensure that we are fully supporting lobbying representation at the state level and, finally, a seat at the table!
The Investment Community of the Rockies, or ICOR, has partnered with the Colorado Landlord Legislative Coalition, or the CLLC, to promote, protect, and serve the Colorado Landlord & Housing Providers through legislative efforts at the state level.
In recent years, as the demographics change in Colorado, as does the State Legislature. We have monitored increasing legislation that has increased the cost to Colorado Housing Providers to provide and maintain quality affordable housing.
In early January of 2023, the Colorado State Legislature reconvenes for its 2023 legislative session, and we are anticipating a jam-packed and time-consuming session.
ICOR & the CLLC are focusing our efforts on the following areas of anticipated legislation:
- Preventing removal of Colorado's statewide prohibition on local rental control ordinances
- "Right to Rest" - rights of non-residents on private property
- Expanding housing discrimination into areas such as income, credit scores, eviction history, work history, rental references
- Limitations -- monetary caps on the amount that can be required for damage and security deposits
For many years we have relied on other real estate associations and individuals to represent us, but our specific interests were not always at the forefront. It is time for Colorado Landlords to converge and make our voices heard.
With your help, ICOR & the CLLC will now direct their advocacy by hiring our own lobbyist. A lobbyist representing the single-family Landlord and Property Manager and our specific needs. We are getting a seat at the table when we need to be there to negotiate and advise. The Colorado Landlord Legislative Coalition is all-inclusive and reaches out and welcomes all landlords and related industry professionals. Each year, the legislative session produces several Bills that directly affect our landlords and how professional property managers are allowed to run their businesses.
