Help Project Displaced Help More Job Seekers

Project Displaced  started because of the  COVID-19 crisis. Its founder, Ant Cohen, lost his job in the hospitality industry. He has spent most of his whole working life in the airline, hospitality and travel industries. His partner is a musician, and so both their worlds, and the worlds of their extended network fell away in a single day.

But instead of doing nothing, he thought "what if I can use the skills I do have, to help people in the same boat as me?". And so Project Displaced was born in March 2020.

We are now Australia's first free job seeker support service that aims to help anyone who has been stood down or made redundant as a result of the current crisis.

We are run entirely by volunteers who are highly qualified professionals, all giving their time and expertise to help others during this crisis. We constantly receive 5 star reviews from every job seeker who reaches out to us.

We work with job seekers to to look at their goals and what obstacles might be standing in their path. We take these obstacles and reframe  thoughts and behaviours to build self-confidence, motivation and self-belief to maximise happiness and success.

We offer everything from resume review help, job interview preparation, helping people identify their transferable or hidden skills and we even offer qualified mindset coaching, career coaching, and mental health first aid.

Our consultants offer their services for free, 7 days a week.

But we can't do this on our own.

Ant funds this project by using his own savings and with the in-kind support of some wonderful organisations who donate their time and expertise as well.

The Project costs more than $60,000 a year ($20 a session) to provide these free services to job seekers- that's just the admin, Zoom fees, booking system, insurance, and license fees, etc.  Nobody on the team receives a salary and we never charge job seekers to help them. We use as many free services as we possibly can but even the small things we do need to pay for add up.

By supporting us, you help us to continue to exist and to continue to help job seekers in need. It is obvious to us that there will be a continued need for our services and we want to be able to help everyone who needs it. We never charge job seekers to use our services, but to do this we need support.

Where does the money go?

- Booking engine license fees. The system we use so that job seekers can book sessions with our team
- GSuite costs. Every month we are charged per volunteer, to keep the systems running
- LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram promotions so that job seekers know we are here for them
- Legal fees and insurance. We make sure that we have the right coverage to protect our volunteers
- Our website. We had a terrific couple of volunteers building a new website for us. At the end of August, 4 months of work was lost due to a server outage.  We now desperately need to build a new website, and this costs a significant amount of money

Your donation helps, so much!

It  supports  100+ sessions of job seeker support every week of the year...

It helps 400+ job seekers every month of the year...

And it helps 400+ families every month of the year.

By helping us in whatever way you can, you're helping to change lives. Really. You're allowing us to continue to support those in need, and give others the confidence to face an increasingly uncertain future.

And we are forever grateful to you for that.
