ROOTS for Theatre of NOTE

Tax deductible
Theatre of NOTE is returning to its roots! Did you know that our name is an acronym? That's right: founded in 1981, Theatre of N.O.T.E. was the New One-Act Theatre Ensemble.

ROOTS: An Evening of World Premiere Shorts is an evening of four wonderfully strange world premiere short plays - written by four accomplished Theatre of NOTE-grown playwrights - which together usher audiences through the complexity of the human condition.

A dark comedy for dark times unfolds at a wedding...in either a sitcom or just a disturbed mind (Deadpan)

A one-night stand takes a Kafkaesque turn. Is this stranger the one? Or just something very strange (The Smell of Something to Eat)

A story of people who probably definitely love each other, as they encounter tectonic distress (Big Ones)

Escaping Soviet Russia, a young woman goes on to found modern conservative philosophy before becoming the subject of her own musical theater production (Rand!)

Everyone has their own journey, but we all start at our ROOTS.

Directed by Lee Conrads, and written by Lisa Sanaye Dring, Phinneas Kiyomura, Erik Patterson, and Bill Robens

Produced by Channing Sargent and Faith Imafidon, associate produced by Sandy Stoltz

We are psyched out of our minds to present these exciting plays...

BUT WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!!

We're deep in our rehearsal process, and about to enter tech. Your donations will help us cover:

Lumber (sooo many pallets), hardware, and set pieces:  Around $600
Sonic Soundscapes and Legendary Lighting: $550
Programs, postcards, posters, all the things required to make sure people come to this show: $800
Assorted Furnishings and Props, like a real, live (looking) fish: $800
Fancy digs for the actors to wear: like a Peter the Great costume and a big bug: $600
Creative People Royalties and Stipends - writers, designers, builders, etc: $4000ish (gulp)

You get it.  We need to raise about $9000.00 to give this show the production quality it deserves.  We are hoping to raise at least $6000.00 of that with this campaign.

All gifts are tax deductible, as Theatre of NOTE is a 501(c)3. So any contribution you make helps you come tax time, which given certain changes to the ol' tax laws, should be a big help to you. Not to mention putting down in the federal books that you SUPPORT THE ARTS.

THANK YOU for helping bring these four weird worlds to life.

ROOTS: An Evening of World Premiere Shorts will preview Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at 8pm, and will open on Thursday, May 16 at 8pm and run through Saturday, June 23 as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

Hopefully some of our perks will excite you.  But even more We will be grateful for any donation, no matter how small.  And, if you have no funds to give, you can still show your support:
