Help Primo Smile!

This fighter is known as Primo, the protagonist from "In Search of Respect: Selling Crack in El Barrio" has--with the help of his sons-- fought to turn his life around. He moved to rural Pennsylvania to live with them and has kicked heroin as well as methadone and has completely stopped using cocaine.

 He is currently working in the "back kitchen" of his son's restaurant and saving up to get a set of dentures so that he can "work out there with the general public... But I'm embarrassed do that without teeth."


Philippe Bourgois, the author of "In Search of Respect" will match all the money raised by us (the students and professors who have read about Primo over the past half dozen years) until we reach the needed $5400. The $5400 will cover: pulling out Primo's remaining infected broken teeth, preparing a temporary set of dentures until his gums heal, and preparing and fitting the final set of dentures.
