Our story began four years ago when we were living in Texas. Brandon was graduating from the Le Notre Culinary Institute and Billy was working at the University of Texas. We found the Castle listed for sale on a Facebook site called For The Love Of Old Homes. It was life changing, to say the least. We came to see the house that had been on the market just over a year and it became our passion, our dream and our careers. Castle La Crosse is an amazing home, it's iconic in the region and the finest example of grand 19th century architecture you can find. There is simply nothing like. It is a fascinating place for it's architecture, construction and place in the history of La Crosse. Originally built by a greatly successful Lumber Baron, it has been loved and maintained by previous owners, now it is shared with hundreds of guests each year in it's new life as a Bed and Breakfast. It's an understatement to say it takes everything we've got to maintain it, both physically and financially. We need help to maintain the exterior limestone and woodwork of historic Castle La Crosse so it can be shared with future generations.
Our long term fundraising goals start with the 2020 campaign where we will: -Purchase gutters to protect the exterior limestone from erosion -Replace rotting wood on porches and window sills -Build new storm windows to protect the original stained glass -Replace railings and tile work on the front porch and the vestibules
It is our mission to maintain and preserve the Castle for many years to come. Now that Castle La Crosse is open to the public for the first time in it's long history, be part of the support effort to preserve. Your donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. We invite local businesses that benefit from Castle La Crosse to match donations received.
