Help Preserve Little Flower Basilica!

My name is Scott and I’m launching this fundraising effort for what I feel - and I hope you will as well - is a very good cause.
I recently visited the Little Flower Basilica on the west side of San Antonio, Texas. I won’t go into the history of the church, but feel free to visit their site at www.littleflowerbasilica.org. The church is run by the Discalced Carmelite Friars and is a simply beautiful historic church - elevated to the status of Minor Basilica in the Catholic Church in 1998 as well as placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The church has been fundraising in an effort to continue the restoration project they have in-flight. When inside the church, it is apparent that there are many areas where restoration is still needed - but my feeling is that the church community could use more assistance achieving their restoration goals.
The reason I’m starting this fundraising - beyond the obvious - is how special I feel the church is to the community - and how moved I was while attending a recent mass.
I attended a service on a first Friday that was a healing mass. I don’t believe I’ve ever been to one before, and as the priest announced the healing ritual (for those 65 and older or seriously ill), I was astounded at how many rose up - many with walkers, canes, limps, obvious afflictions, and then others with no appearance of malady at all. (I was one of the very few in the church that day that didn’t approach for the anointing of the sick.) I was amazed at the looks of hope and faith I saw in their faces - even as many struggled to make it down the aisle. My heart ached….
The attendees were part of the faith community of the basilica and it was clear they had a love and reverence for not only the mass and sacrament, but the basilica as their refuge and spiritual home.
So, I was moved and will be personally donating to the effort. But thought this might be a good way to help out even more.
You don’t have to believe in God to donate. But do you value beauty?
You don’t have to like religion to donate. But do you believe in charity?
You don’t have to believe in the sacraments of the church to donate. But do you believe in mercy and love?
I think many of us would answer Yes to all of the above.
Please join me in assisting this community with the restoration of their spiritual home.
Thank you.
(P.S. - if you don’t want to donate here, please consider going to the website above for a direct donation to the Little Flower Basilica)
