Help Poor Ethiopians in Ethiopia

Hi, My name is Ianet (Janet) Bastyan and I am fundraising for Generation Pillar Organization – it helps poor Ethiopians in Ethiopia, everywhere in the country. It fights poverty. 75% of Ethiopians do not have enough to eat. Homelessness is a big problem and people need shelters to be built for them. Children need exercise books, pens and pencils, and school uniforms. Women need specialised training; so does youth graduated from university, but without jobs. With the COVID-19 pandemic, prevention of disease is important, including personal protective equipment to prevent the spread of infection. Every cent you donate to help Ethiopians in Ethiopia will go straight to Generation Pillar Organization. Pastor Yohannis started it and energetic young family men donate their time, talent and personal resources to helping the desperately needy.

Why am I helping? I met Pastor Yohannis and his team of organisers. In 2020, I saw many homeless Ethiopians. The number has increased since my earlier visit to the beautiful country in 2016. A big problem is the current pandemic. People lost jobs, for example in flower farms that supplied Europeans. I passed a family of 4. They were shy and well-mannered, reluctant to beg. Their clothes were all clean. Their downfall was the loss of the parents' low-paid jobs, the factory closing even though it tried to stay open for as long as possible.

Then there are the bright and beautifully mannered school children. They are all like, however poor. Want to know what to give an Ethiopian child? A ball? Food? Ye-es. Try exercise book and biro. It will fill them with joy and their appreciation is genuine.
