<div>Hello, I have created this on behalf of the Samuel Brissett Foundation.  My name is Krissy Brissett and much of my family resides in the farming community of Pisgah, St. Elizabeth in rural Jamaica. <strong>Hurricane Melissa has devastated the community there and they desperately need assistance.</strong> St. Elizabeth is considered the breadbasket of Jamaica because a large amount of produce is grown there.

<div>Often, these rural communities are overlooked, and we are trying to get them immediate help. Many homes are totally destroyed. Members of the community are sheltering in the homes that remain. They barely have dry places to sleep, and they only have the clothes they are wearing as everything was either lost in the storm, or they are dirty and wet.

<div>My aunts Beverly and Carlene started the Samuel Brissett Foundation years ago to give back to the community. We do back-to-school treats every year with donations we receive from past students of the all-age school and family members. We also have sponsors such as the National Bakery and the Ministry of Health. The back-to-school events include giveaways of school supplies, uniforms, physicals, and dental cleanings for the children.

<div>Please help us to continue to give back to the communities of Pisgah, Huntley Castle, and Cheviot Hill Districts. Right now, <strong>any funds raised will be used to continue to do community meals as it is still difficult for everyone to travel and purchase items with what money was not lost during the storm.</strong> We will also use any funds to purchase sleeping bags, water, building supplies and other urgently needed items as they rebuild. They are devastated and we want to help make things as easy as we can as they recover from the trauma.

<div>We will be purchasing supplies and shipping them from Miami, Florida in an effort to get them directly to people in the areas mentioned. We will share how all donations are being used on our Facebook page.
