Hello, my name is Tamás and I am fundraising for Pierre in The Gambia.

Pierre reached out to me on Instagram before Christmas last year. Shortly after starting to chat with him, he asked me for money for feeding his family. I was puzzled as I liked him and really wanted to help but I was also convinced that there must be a better way to do so...

He is 23 years old and lives with his parents and little siblings in a village home in Kerewan town in the Western part of The Gambia. He had to drop out of school due to lack of money for his last two years of school feels. He had to got into hard labor works on various construction sites to survive on a daily basis. On a full day labor work he can only earn a maximum of 200 Gambian Dalasi (or about £ 2.20)! But even these jobs are not a reliable source of income for him and his family. His current situation is certainly not heading to a bright future for him...

I asked him: "What is your dream?" He said he wants to go back to school to finish his last 2 years of study and with that he can find better jobs in his country. His dream is to be able to buy a little piece of land where he can start growing crops and support his family in a healthy and sustainable way.

The idea was clear to me: to set up a fundraising project page to help him raise the money needed for his school fees. Once he can finish that, he will certainly have a much brighter future ahead of him!

Our goal now is to raise £300 (=25.000 Gambian Dalasi) which would cover his next ONE YEAR of tuition fees.

His school year will start in September 2025, but registration at his school will be closed before the end of March. So that is our target and deadline.
