As some may know my sister Phalona was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. She's been diligent by changing her lifestyle and sticking to an aggressive treatment plan, recommended by doctors.
Originally, we were hoping after the mastectomy that she'd be clear. However, cancer cells have been detected on one of her lymph nodes, so she's receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments for up to 8 months.
My sister is quite literally, the last person to ask for help. However, due to the unpredictable nature of this terrible disease, we've realized it's needed. She's someone who usually is helping others at work and through her education. She's studying to be a psychiatrist as she has a distinct passion to help others this way.
The disease has disrupted an already ambitious journey. Phalona is climbing personal heights by working full time and attending one of the most challenging community colleges in the state. Any efforts to help get my sister back on track are greatly appreciated. The family is currently doing our best to support and be by her side through it all.
