Help Peter in His Time of Need

Peter Hagen is enduring a living hell as his husband, Shaun, fights a terminal illness. He is tasked with continuing his daily business on top of an endless stream of appointments, errands, and trips to the emergency room.

Peter grew up in America, but the couple is currently based in Australia. As such, Peter is far removed from most of his friends and family. Nothing would comfort or help Peter more than another person he loves staying with him and assisting him with some of the responsibilities and providing a shoulder to lean on as he prepares for the worst. No one should go through a time like this alone, and no one could help Peter more than his mother. However, the costs of kenneling her dogs and flying her out to Australia from California are more than they can bear on top of all of their medical expenses.

Even if we can’t raise the goal amount, any financial help would make the possibility of reuniting mother and son that much more attainable. I sincerely hope you will consider contributing to this incredible family.

Here is a personal message from Peter himself:

“My Name is Peter and I have been living in Australia since 2009. In 2010 I met a man Named Shaun Ashdowne who would later become my husband. Things were amazing until November 15th 2015 when he was diagnosed with an incredibly rare brain tumour known as a pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma which mainly occurs in children.
We acted promptly with surgery and it grew back with in months.
At that stage he was labelled class 3. However he had a full year and a half of happy good times , until his third and final surgery which proved that the Tumor had grown into a glioblastoma. We were luckily enough to get married in Feb 2018 , but , sadly he will not make it to even our first anniversary. I am currently his only caretaker and although yes we have his family , I do not have any of my own.

We were lucky enough my mom got to meet my husband in 2013 , come see Australia in 2016 and miraculously get her out for my wedding.

With Shaun's treatment known as Avastin , he is the only person with his condition to be treated with it in Australia and thus we had to pay 20 grand out of pocket just for his trial.

Funds are tight and things are up in the air. We just don't know how much time is left. And all I want is my mom with me to help me for when he goes. So I can hug my mom and cry to my mom and she can help me through the most difficult time in my life.

My mom unfortunately is struggling to get the money  together to see me due to having no family aside my brother , who can't help.

She has need of 8 thousand dollars to pay for her flight , and the dog kennels which will cost around 2 grand for the time she could stay here roughly 2 months.

As flights near Christmas time they increase in price and getting out here already costs about 1800-2000.$
I thank you for any help
I just really miss my mom and want to hug her.”
