Help Peru Guide Xavier Ccoa reinvent himself

Donation protected
My name is Xavier Ccoa Triveño , I'm 34 years old, married and we have one daughter.

Up until March 2020, I was an Adventure Guide for Amazonas Explorer specialising in Mountain Biking and Trekking in Cusco and on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Since Covid19 stopped the tourist season in Peru, I've been working on my wife's father farm land and I'm enjoying it and learning a lot. My wife and I want to reinvent ourselves by growing  crops.

We have 3000m2 of land where we'd like to plant avocados, custard apple (chirimoya) trees, potatoes and corn to be sold in the local markets.

This project will take time because we still need to clean up the land since it is overgrown, and to make our dreams come true, it will require some investment.

It was 10 years ago when Amazonas Explorer gave me the opportunity to work as tour guide, where I got the chance to share my passion for adventure and nature and I have loved it ever since.

I hope to be back soon to show you all around but for now I need to provide for my family by reinventing myself as a farmer.

I think agriculture is something that will never stop and I plan to provide quality products that people can afford at good and fair prices.

My investment proposal is:

- $150 to clean up the land

- $500 for 100 avocado plants

- $100 to plough the land

- $110  for potatoes seeds

- $80  for corn seeds

- $800  for an irrigation system (pipes, hosing, water keys, etc)

- $100 for people to make holes for the plants.

- $150 for fertiliser.

- $200 for 40 custard apple plants.

Total investment: $2190 - equivalent to £1638

With my wife's father experience, my commitment and, of course, your help, we hope we can be up and running as soon as possible.

Thank you all very much.

Official Tour Guide and soon to be farmer.

How it works:

I, Paul Cripps, owner of Amazonas Explorer  have agreed to help set up these Gofundme crowdfunding pages for my guides who are struggling to make ends meet whilst the tourism industry implodes in Peru. We hope it will be back one day soon, but for now, they need to reinvent themselves in order to feed their families.

The funds will be collected here in the UK into my account and then I will pay the exact equivalent in Peruvian soles from my Peruvian account into their personal accounts to minimise bank transfer fees and exchange rate fluctuations.

I will also personally contribute the first $150 of each proposal to help them get started. This will be donated directly into their accounts to avoid charges.

Our guides provide a big part of the magic of any trip to Peru and  it is their personal touches, professionalism, wit and charm that makes each trip they guide unforgettable.

So,  if you enjoyed your trip to Peru with one of our guides, please give what you can.

I know times are difficult everywhere but these guides are true heroes, their projects are borne out a desire to survive this pandemic and come out the other side better for the experience.

If you cant donate, please share and spread the word to help them achieve their goals.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you  so much for anything you can do.
