Help people affected by the Quad Cities flood

Donation protected
**As of 5/17, I've distributed assistance to 22 employee and owners of flooded businesses so far. Given the proliferation of other fundraisers (including many for specific businesses impacted by the flooding), I've decided to close this campaign to new donations. All funds collected have been distributed to people in need. Thank you so very much for your donations! They are much appreciated!

-----

The Quad City area is currently experiencing some of the worst flooding in its history. As of May 1, the Mississippi River is estimated to crest at 22.4 feet, just short of the record of 22.63 feet set during the Flood of 1993.

Hundreds of employees and small business owners on both sides of the river are now immediately experiencing lost wages that will likely persist for many weeks or months. While many property damages will ultimately be covered by insurance, in the meantime, the many people who work at these businesses still have rent to pay and families to feed - things that are now jeopardized by not having paychecks coming in.

As someone who works in downtown Davenport, I have seen the devastating effects that this flooding is having not only on the many small businesses that have been damaged, but also on the people who make their living from these and other businesses throughout the Quad Cities that are now closed for the foreseeable future.

All donations will be distributed to employees who would otherwise be receiving paychecks from the businesses closed due to flooding throughout the Quad Cities. After the flood has receded and businesses have reopened, any remaining donations will go toward other Quad Cities flood relief efforts such as food assistance or rebuilding.

I will distribute the money as soon as it is available from GoFundMe. All claims will be kept confidential. To ensure the quickest disbursement, funds are currently being moved to Brendan Iglehart's bank account and then distributed via PayPal or Venmo to ensure that there is a record of all transfers. If you have additional questions about how funds will be handled and allocated, please let me know.

I will also update the listing with other resources for those affected by flooding. If you have tips on any resources, please message me through the campaign or at [email redacted].

On behalf of the hundreds of Quad Citizens affected by this disaster, thank you!
