Help Penny Get the Care She Deserves
Hi, we are Peter & Samantha, and we started this GoFundMe for our rescue baby, Penny. We rescued Penny one month ago from a local dog rescue. Penny was a breeder mom that was saved from a puppy mill. She was kept in her crate her entire life, which we think is about 6-8 years.
When Penny arrived at the rescue, they found that she has Cushing’s disease. Since it was left untreated for years, she now suffers from muscle weakness and deterioration, yucky skin, and extreme thirst and requires twice daily medications. We knew this from the beginning and were up for the challenge. However, over the last month, we have been met with several other medical issues we didn’t know about when we rescued her.
One week after we rescued her, we found out she has tapeworms that were unnoticedat the rescue. We began her on treatment for this. Over the next few weeks, we noticed that she was having accidents in the house and was peeing blood. After several labs and urine cultures we found that she had a resistant UTI, so we began treatment for that as well. 2 weeks have gone by, and she continues to pee blood and often pushes out blood clots. 2 xrays later, and it is now confirmed that Penny has a “mass” in her abdomen, just above her kidney.
We desperately want to do further testing to determine what this mass is (and treat it), however, we have already spent over $500 in this last month treating issues we were not told about and were unaware of when we rescued her. This is all in addition to her monthly Cushing’s medications.
My fiancé and I both work 40+ hours a week. We are also trying to plan our wedding for later this year and have poured most of our saved money into this. We have scraped together all of our extra money to pay forPenny’s various tests and medications, and our funds are just disappearing.
Please help us help Penny. Any amount is helpful. We will be grateful for absolutely any amount. We want to give this baby the best shot at a good life. Thank you so so much in advance.
