On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 14-year-old Peighton Streeper suffered a devastating accident—falling from a third-story bedroom window. She sustained serious injuries, including a collapsed lung, five broken vertebrae in her back, a broken right ankle, and a shattered left ankle. She was immediately medevaced from Ketchikan, AK to Harborview Trauma Center in Seattle, WA, where she remains in critical recovery.
Peighton has since undergone multiple extensive surgeries:
- A 7-hour spinal fusion to stabilize her back,
- A 5-hour surgery on her right ankle,
- Another 5-hour procedure on her shattered left ankle.
She has shown incredible resilience—just one week after back surgery, she sat up on her own in a wheelchair. But her journey to healing is far from over.
Peighton is now facing a long recovery ahead. She cannot bear weight for at least three months and requires round-the-clock care, currently provided by her devoted parents, Michelle and Thomas, who have not left her side.
The family is staying in Seattle, and they are shouldering the cost of meals, laundry, transportation, and temporary living arrangements—all while being away from their jobs and income. These costs add up quickly and will continue for months as Peighton will need ongoing care and travel between Seattle and Ketchikan for follow-up treatments.
If all goes well, the Streeper family hopes to return home this week. However, their home will need immediate modifications—including building a wheelchair-accessible ramp and making other home improvements—to safely accommodate Peighton’s recovery needs. In about six weeks, they will need to return to Seattle for another surgery and additional follow-up appointments.
We are reaching out to friends, family, and community members to help ease the financial burden so the Streepers can focus entirely on helping Peighton heal.
