From there he attended two universities and medical school and still practices the art of Chinese healing to this day.
When Mao began his reign of terror, murdering 65 million Chinese, Pei was forced to leave. He immigrated to America, became a US citizen, and has lived a simple, pious life, teaching Taoist principles for nearly half a century.
Today at 97, he lives in upstate New York in a high-crime neighborhood where drug dealing is commonplace. “There is no peace and harmony, and I can’t concentrate on the positive values in my life. My only wish,” he says, “is to find a home where I can live in peace and quiet, and do what I have to do to honor the commitment I made as a young man.”
He is a holy man, the last surviving Taoist monk of the sacred Wah Shan Mountain, and he needs your help to find a safe place to live, and the basic necessities of life, so he can, as he says, “finish my mission before I leave this earth.”
