Help Pay Funeral Costs For Marks Ramirez

Four weeks ago, our Grandpa Marks Ramirez tested positive for COVID-19. At that time we were told he was asymptomatic and still in good health. The following week he didn't sound so good on the phone and we asked the nursing facility to follow up with him. They did a chest x-ray and found an infection in his chest. He was put on medications but his health began to gradually decline. Because of COVID restrictions, we were unable to be with him during his last days. He passed this past Thursday at 3:03 am.
Grandpa loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would give them kisses for a dollar each. He enjoyed walks and looked forward to going to the State Fair of Texas every year. He was popular with the ladies and liked to sit down with his friends and enjoy a beer and cigar.
He was responsible enough to plan ahead and pay for his funeral arrangements a few years ago. We went to the funeral home and cemetery today and they informed us there would be about $3000 more owed to cover costs such as opening the grave, engraving the headstone and other costs.
Grandpa was in a Medicaid bed at his nursing home and had no assets at the time of his death. Therefore we, the family, have to come up with $3000 in the coming days.
We are asking for donations at this time to help us pay the funeral home and cemetery costs. Anything you can add will be greatly appreciated.
Marks Ramirez viewing will be held on Monday, November 9th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. It will be come and go.
