Help Pay for Portland's Care & Medical Expenses

Family & Friends, our sweet and loving furry girl, Portland, has crossed the rainbow bridge. Anyone who ever met her felt her unconditional love. On walks, at the dog park, and at the dog beach, she was always keen to meet as many people as possible, make them a part of her pack, and soak up as much love as possible through pets and leaning on you. If you met Portie, you loved her and she loved you back hard.
This past week of, December 13-17, Portland was very ill and her owner and my friend and roommate, Liz Lowery, did her best to care for her with vet visits, diet changes, and medication that Portie didn't respond to. It was ultimately determined through an ultrasound that she had accumulated a foreign mass in her stomach/intestines that should be removed with surgery. Portland had surgery on Thursday night, December 17th, to remove the mass but struggled to recover after as she'd developed pneumonia and other complications that made it hard for her to eat and breathe without oxygen. Liz made the decision with the vet's guidance to end her suffering on Monday, December 21st.
Portland was almost 13 years old and lived a full, long life. She'd donated blood many times as a younger dog at the emergency vet where she was treated this past week and many of the workers there knew her and gave her a lot of love.
Portland's end of life care cost Liz quite a bit - more than the goal set on this fundraiser. She did right by Portland to try to help her when she was ill and recovery seemed possible and, later, to end her suffering when recovery didn't seem likely. Liz is a 5th grade teacher. She isn't asking for assistance and didn't ask me to create this but I already had friends inquire about how to get some money to Liz so I'm making this campaign for her family and friends to easily contribute. Please also feel free to contact Liz directly with sympathy and to give if you feel inclined. All money donated will go to Liz to be put toward the medical bills for Portland's treatment.
Thanks for your love, sympathy, and support!
