Tonight I took my dog of five years, Diogee, to the emergency vet after noticing her stomach had become bloated. While there, she was given an ultrasound that revealed her heart was surrounded by fluid, later found to be blood. Her abdomen had filled as well. She also had a mass on her heart. She has cancer.

She had the blood around her heart drained (about half a liter's worth) and I was told I only had a few months left with her. About one month if I can't give her the prescribed medication, which (at the lowest discount I can find) is about $40 for a two week supply. In the event I can't get a discount, it's $40 for just 5 days.

The visit ended up costing $1,001.94 (medication not included).

I'm heartbroken. I'm tired. My eyes hurt and I think my body is out of tears. I know I'll have to say goodbye soon, and the financial aspect of this situation has only made things worse.
