Help Paul’s fight against Brain Tumour

Hi my names Louise and I’m fundraising for my dad Paul.

On New Year’s Day 2021 my dad suffered with 3 terrible seizures which was initially put down to to much alcohol on New Year’s Eve.

3 weeks later he had another bad seizure and again 3 weeks after that another. By this time we were really concerned as the hospital had no real reason behind them.

Over the next couple of months his health really deteriorated, he was confused, couldn’t concentrate or speak and had terrible headaches. We begged for the hospital to give him an MRI scan as we knew this just wasn’t him and his personality had changed.

We were told they were tension headaches and he was sent to an epilepsy clinic.

After finally getting an MRI scan we were told the devastating news that they had found my dad a brain tumour.

He needed surgery right away and within 2 days he was undergoing de-bulking of the tumour.

I spoke to my dad shortly after the surgery and couldn’t believe the difference in him. The confusion had just disappeared and he was back to his normal self.

We were all so happy but unfortunately that wasn’t to last.

We had the results of the tumour which the hospital then confirmed he had a stage 4 Glioblastoma the most aggressive type of brain cancer. We were told the survival rate is 12-18 months.

We are all so devastated and still in shock but we have hope.

He has undergone radiotherapy & chemotherapy but we feel that he has so much more life left in him. He is 65 years old with a partner, two daughters & 3 grandchildren and we aren’t ready for him to leave us yet.

We started to research other therapies in other countries that could help and was put in touch with a hospital in Gibraltar who are offering dendritic cell therapy treatment which is an immunotherapy based treatment. Immunotherapy uses and strengthens your own immune system in the fight against cancer and sustainably activates it against new cancer cell growth.

Unfortunately as this is not available in the UK we are in desperate need of funding to help pay for the medical fees.
