Three years ago, my life changed overnight. I woke up the day after Labor Day completely numb from my chest down to my feet. After two years of searching for answers and enduring constant pain, I was finally referred to the University of Washington, where doctors managed to ease some of my symptoms. Still, my condition remains a mystery—only 3% of neuropathy patients have what I have, and I don’t fit any of the usual boxes. In the last two years alone, I’ve suffered seven concussions and eleven falls, made multiple trips to the hospital, and developed both diverticulitis and diverticulosis—an extremely rare combination.

 For thirty years, I taught special education and coached baseball, pouring my heart into my students and athletes. This illness took away my ability to do the work I love. My 2024 tax return was all zeros, and I ran out of savings in September. I’ve sold or given away most of my possessions, and I’m starting over at 50 with nothing left. I’m able to work part-time now and hope to substitute teach in a few districts soon, but I’m still far behind and struggling to keep up with daily needs while waiting for SSDI approval.

 I need help with housing, living expenses, medical costs, and transportation—I recently had to give up my car and need a way to get to work. Through it all, my faith has kept me going. My go-to prayer is: “God I know you can, Lord I know you might not, Jesus, even if you don’t I STILL have Faith!” This silent battle has taught me so much, especially about the challenges my students face every day. I’m not complaining—God woke me up this morning, so He’s not done with me yet. If you’re able to help, your support will make a real difference in my journey.
