Help Patty with a second liver transplant

This is a fundraiser to help with medical bills and other expenses for Patty Harm, who is waiting for a second liver transplant in Arizona.

Patty was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis and ulcerative colitis back in the 1980's. These diseases affect how the body processes and gets rid of waste in your body. It can be deadly if not treated, and most patients require transplant. In 2016 Patty had an episode of severe anemia and received several blood transfusions. This was when she officially started her journey to getting a liver transplant.

After years of medical testing, classes, nutrition appointments, scans etc. Patty was officially listed on UNOS for a liver transplant in 2019. In 2021 Patty temporarily relocated down to Scottsdale Arizona to wait for a transplant with Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic has a smaller coverage area for transplanting patients and transplants at a lower MELD score. The MELD score looks at various areas of a patients health to determine how sick a person is. Getting a transplant with Mayo means that Patty would not have to get more sick and wait years to get transplanted.

On June 13, 2021 Patty got the call! She went in and had a successful transplant. With time though, Patty started to get sick again. She was running fevers almost daily and got close to sepsis. With more testing and scans they found that the new liver had growths on it and the bile ducts were starting to die in her new liver. With that being said, Patty has been officially re-placed on the transplant list, and needs a new liver, a second liver transplant. Patty is currently on round the clock antibiotics to prevent her from becoming septic again.

Patty is a breast cancer survivor. She has gone through so much, and has been so strong. But unfortunately she has been out of work for 9 months and has been away from her family and friends.

This has been a tremendous financial burden. Patty's anti rejection medications cost nearly $3,000/month. She is paying for housing, food, travel while in Arizona, as well as paying for all of her normal bills back in Washington like her mortgage. Patty has gone through her savings during this time and is solely relaying on disability at this time. She is close to having to sell her home to be able to afford staying in Arizona while she waits another transplant.
