Help Save Patsy’s Sight – A Mother’s Fight for Vision and Hope

Patsy is one of the strongest women I know. At 52, she has endured more than most people face in a lifetime. She is a survivor of domestic violence, a devoted mother of four, a loving daughter, sister, and friend. Despite every hardship, she has always been the one to show up with the biggest heart, never complaining, always giving.

But now, Patsy is facing something she cannot fight alone—she is going blind.

Her vision loss is preventable with surgery, but because she is an immigrant who came to the U.S. legally, she does not qualify for state assistance or medical programs. The cost of the surgery is far beyond her reach.

She has already lost sight in her left eye, and every day her right eye grows worse. Without this surgery, she will lose her ability to see her children grow, to care for them, and to remain the anchor of her family. Her four children rely on her completely, and they need their mother’s strength—and her sight—more than ever.

Some women dream of designer bags or fancy cars. Patsy just dreams of being able to see with both eyes again.

What breaks me most is her selflessness. Last week, Patsy used $7 of her last $15 to surprise me with my favorite Starbucks at work because she knew I was having a bad day. That’s who she is—always giving, even when she has so little left.

So today, I am asking this as a personal favor. With all the ugly and heavy things happening in the world, here is a chance to truly make a difference. To change a life. We can’t help everyone, but together we can help Patsy.
