Help Patches Cat
We met our Patches Cat when went to pick out kittens from a litter that were being fostered. This little black and white fluff ball went up to Marie, crawled into her lap, and started purring. “Take me home, I’m yours and you’re mine.”

Patches has grown into handsome, smart, and loving adult cat. He follows Marie around, sits next to her while she works from home, and sleeps with her at night. He loves his two black cat siblings we also adopted and bosses them around as dominant cat.
Patches has been very ill recently. We took him to our local vet and after running some lab work the vet had us rush him to the emergency vet. He had a high fever and was in crisis.
Patches spent two days at the emergency vet. They did more lab work, X-rays, an ultrasound and administered IV antibiotics and fluids. They sent him home after the crisis passed but he’s required follow up care including a biopsy, and ongoing lab work.
The vets have yet to diagnose the underlying problem and have to monitor his condition in case his lab work spikes again to avoid complications or the risk of organ failure. (The good news is they ruled out cancer, FiV or a ruptured gallbladder, among other things)

Patches is back to his old self at home. He’s feeling well, plays with us and the other cats, and is back to being the boss of the house. He’s wanted a bit more adoration since his illness which we’ve been happy to provide.
The total vet bills have been over $4,600 so far. Most of that was from the 48 hours at the emergency vet along with the post discharge biopsy. We are committed to his follow up care and the lab work needed to monitor his condition.
Normally we’d be able to handle these expenses but 2020 is not “normal” and we’ve been kicked in the teeth financially this year. We suffered a permanent 20% reduction in our income at the beginning of the year. A few months later we were forced to spend $6,000 on sewer repairs to keep our home habitable. We were struggling after that and the expensive vet bills have wiped out our reserves.
We want to keep Patches with us and give him the care he needs. We’re asking for help with approximately half of the vet bills to date while we also work to bring in cash in other ways. We thank you for any help you can provide for our Patches Cat
