Help Ozzie Overcome His Intestinal Blockage

Hi family, friends, & friends of friends! First and foremost, thank you for simply making it this far by clicking the link to learn about helping our boy. ‍

Meet our boy, Ozzie! He is a three year old Sheepadoodle who desperately needs your help. He’s our 72 lb lap dog, who is always ready for a cuddle and full of affection. Whether he's snuggling up on the couch or giving you those adorable puppy eyes, he knows how to steal your heart. Though he can be a little rowdy at times with bursts of Doodle energy (IYKYK), his loving nature shines through in everything he does. His fluffy coat and personality make him irresistible. He’s the perfect mix of fun and love, and we don’t want to have to imagine life without him!

On Monday, March 10 we had him fully groomed. Talk about a shocker! We wanted to give him a fresh start and he went from full on fluff to a little naked guy. As you can imagine, even he felt a little weird about his new do and the huge adjustment. The following day, our sly guy got into the bathroom trash can—& helped himself to a heap of garbage. Always a huge fear for any pet owner. By Wednesday morning, he had vomited what we thought was everything up, but by that evening the belly aches, diarrhea, and sleepiness set in. Because of his recent dramatic change with his groom, we weren’t sure if his change in attitude was from that or the trash incident. Believe it or not, major grooms can have some psychological and physiological effects on dogs.

By Friday morning, Ozzie had stopped almost all water intake, could hardly stay awake, no solid potty breaks, and just wasn’t himself. Our fears were confirmed via x-ray, the vet was highly suspicious of a blockage in the intestines and suggested surgery. Unfortunately, our vet could not perform surgery and recommended a trip to the emergency vet for emergency exploratory surgery. If you have ever had a pet and have had to take them to the emergency vet, you know they won’t even see you without a deposit up front and that costs can often be double or triple what you may pay for the same thing at your regular vet. I spent a a long time with the vet discussing possibilities and if there was anything we could try as she said it wasn’t totally uncommon for dogs to pass blockages on their own. We opted for the liquids and medicinal route to hopefully push the blockage out.

That leads us to today. While Ozzie is doing, okay, we know that we are headed in the direction of surgery as we aren’t seeing any major changes. We are working to see if our vet (SRAH in Dayton, TN) can accommodate the surgery and weighing our options if not. In these cases time is of the essence. Things can go from bad to the worst in no time. Unfortunately, we are not in a financial position at this very moment to pay the anticipated $2500-$10,000 surgery/hospital stay (and I don’t think most people are). If you know me, or Tanner, you know we are not ones to ask for help for something like this. But we are desperate to get him this surgery and in this case are not above asking for assistance, otherwise we face a much harsher reality of life without our boy.

If you’ve made it this far, I thank you again for simply reading, sharing, and donating. The Money Family will be forever indebted to you for helping us.
