<div><strong>We need your support to keep cannabis sales away from our Stamford and Darien border and overturn the approval of the Nautilus Botanicals dispensary at 1308 E. Main Street (the former Boatyard Restaurant/Smokey Joe’s).</strong>

<div><strong>By raising funds collectively through private donations, we have a strong chance of overturning this application with an appeal, opening the site to a more appropriate use for our community.</strong>

<div>Background: Despite much opposition and contrary to the Stamford zoning ordinance in June, the Stamford Zoning Board unanimously approved the Nautilus Botanicals application to open a cannabis dispensary. This decision was disappointing, given the substantial evidence against it.

<div>However, this evidence now supports an appeal filed on July 3 by The Law Offices of Green and Gross, P.C., on behalf of those opposed. The appeal has a strong chance of success, as the board overlooked many non-compliant details in the site plan and application. <strong>Importantly, the appeal goes through the CT court system and therefore will be reviewed by a judge (which we believe, among other things, will support a review process less subject to political and other pressures). </strong>

<div>Why We Need Your Help: To date, Chilton Trust Company has exclusively covered all legal costs of the initial dispute against the application, and has already footed the initial costs of this appeal. Chilton Trust Company wants to support the community and has borne everything to this point, and has asked for broader support with the continuing, mounting costs of litigation. <strong>Now, we need to come together as a community over the next four weeks to raise the remaining funds, estimated at $25,000-$30,000.</strong>
