After 25+ years of pain and suffering due to End-stage Glaucoma, resulting in complete blindness, all of my doctors have collectively decided we have finally hit a dead end road. Instead, we need to take the road to recovery. With that being said, there is nothing further they can do for my eye. I am no longer responding to any/all Glaucoma eye drops or laser surgery. Therefore, the end result will be an evisceration of my right eye. If you’re unfamiliar with that verbiage, it means the removal of my eye and adding in an implant. Recovery time will be 10 weeks plus however many weeks the prosthesis will take to create.

I haven’t had surgery since I was a baby—let alone, the removal of an organ. So to say I’m petrified would be an understatement. However, I’m more afraid of the medical costs and the amount of debt it will leave me in after having to endure such a traumatic event.

I’ve spoken with several professionals to get an idea on the cost for everything and needless to say, it’s added up. I will obviously be out of work for that whole time which is going to cripple my family and I financially.

If you know me at all, this is not something that I talk about often and it’s beyond me to even contemplate asking for help, let alone asking for money. I do fear I will need some help from my friends and family. If you can’t donate money, I will definitely be in need of emotional support and that would mean just as much during this time.
