Help Famous Fish Market in Harlem Get a New Stove

Donation protected
Inspired by the NYTimes article "A Harlem Restaurant That’s Withstood Gentrification, a Pandemic and Time" this page is dedicated to helping Mr. Strickland get the funds he needs to install a new stove at Famous Fish Market - a Black-owned business that's been around for nearly 50 years in Harlem.  The Times had this to say about the food here - "But it's more than good - it's rich, indulgent and historic. In essence, it's Black. Because it's packaged to go in a plastic bag, it can be easy to forget that this food is not just regular takeout, but something for more personal: a generational and carefully kept family recipe". This page was made with the owner's permission and all funds will go directly to him.

As the article states, "Keeping the business going in an ever-changing New York hasn’t always been easy, especially given Manhattan’s rising costs, Mr. Strickland said. He has two stoves in the kitchen; he is hoping to find the time and money to install a third." | "Like many Black-owned businesses, this one was twice denied a Paycheck Protection Program loan before it received a bank loan to sustain the business through the crisis."

Funds will cover equipment & installation costs for the new stove. Any additional funds raised beyond the stove costs will go to helping keep his small business afloat during the pandemic. I've spoken with Mr. Strickland directly and he appreciates any and all support.
