Help Ronnie Take Care of His Wife

I’m a student at the University of Tennessee and I work at a warehouse around 30 minutes outside of Knoxville called Exedy, where I make car parts. This is where I met Ronnie.

Ronnie  is easily one of the kindest souls I have ever met. Every time we  work together, we talk about God, family, and we reflect on life experiences.

He comes into work every day with the best attitude. He dances, sings, and shares jolly ranchers and fire balls with his coworkers to brighten up the day.

But Ronnie is almost 80 years old, and he works around 50 hours a week with no days off. Unfortunately for him, the automotive industry is one of the lowest paying jobs in America.

However, he has no other choice. He has spent most of his money taking care of his wife, who has been in and out of the hospital with illness. This has left him with virtually nothing. I have been able to tell how crushing this has had on him by the change in attitude and the look on his face when he speaks about her, knowing he may not be there for her if something goes wrong.

With Christmas right around the corner, we are in the season of giving. I have been privileged enough to grow up in a household that didn’t live from paycheck to paycheck, nor have I had to bare the pain of watching a family member fr ow sicker. but I haven’t been blinded of those who haven’t shared in that blessing.

I am trying to raise money for Ronnie so that there is a level of stress that can be alleviated from his life knowing that not only he has some extra to help pay for his wife’s hospital bills, but that there are others who care enough to help him as well. I don’t want to ask for much from you all, but anything helps. No one should have to sit by feeling helpless while the life of a loved one is on the line.
