Help out Rania!

Donation protected
Rania Khalek is an independent journalist whose work has appeared in The Nation, The Intercept, Alternet, and other major publications - and she needs your help.

In recent months, a small group of activists have worked to blacklist Rania from work opportunities in response to positions she has taken on the war in Syria. And not just Syria-related work. This week, for example, they successfully lobbied to cancel a speech she was scheduled to give on Israel and police violence in the United States. That effort follows a massive pressure campaign leading to her resignation from The Electronic Intifada late last year, and the group targeting her has promised to continue to blacklist her for the foreseeable future.

Because of these efforts, Rania is facing serious financial challenges. She is an independent journalist with no alternative sources of income, and she needs some minimal funding simply to find future work and pay for necessities. If her critics succeed in this campaign, they will have successfully weaponized poverty to silence an independent journalist. People of conscience absolutely cannot allow a small group of activists to normalize this kind of blacklisting against struggling left journalists.

Please take a stand against blacklisting and donate generously. All proceeds will fund future reporting by Rania, including expenses for upcoming travel to the Middle East.
