Help Our Family Rebuild After Years of Unimaginable and Unforeseen Hardship
Hello, my name is Chris Gordon Stanley, and I write this as a father, husband, and grandfather. At 72 years old, I never imagined I would be in this position—asking others to help my family through a storm that has tested every ounce of our faith, strength, and love.
I was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio, the youngest of eight children, raised with faith, hard work, and patriotism for this great country—the United States of America. I believe, wholeheartedly, that “America is great because America is good.” My family and I have always tried to live out those words by putting Yahweh (Lord) first, serving others, and standing for love, justice, and humility in all things. Our values are deeply routed in our faith, Yahweh has carried us through many storms, and I believe he continues to protect our heart, so they do not become hardened from these major unforeseen hardships we have faced. But our family is now facing more than we can bear alone. This has devastated our lives and our world. Something no family should have to go through.
We are people of faith who pray daily, not only for our family but also for our country and its leaders. We believe that true patriotism means loving our country while remembering that our ultimate allegiance belongs to Yahweh (Father-Lord), Elohim (Son-God), and Yahshua (Holy Spirit—Jesus Christ).
My Daughter, Megan — A Young Matriarch of Strength and Grace
My daughter, Megan Truel Stanley, is 49 years old. She is a mother, daughter, fiancée, and faithful believer whose strength amazes me every single day. Megan was born with a heart to nurture and lead—strong yet compassionate, wise yet humble.
What she has carried these past few years no parent ever wants to witness. My daughter has endured one hardship after another—her health, her home, her financial stability, and yet through tears and brokenness, she still thanks Yahweh (Lord) daily for His mercy.
The Storm That Changed Everything
In 2021, a storm—both literal and figurative—turned our family’s world upside down. Our family homestead, the land Megan and her fiancé worked so hard to build for their children, was devastated. That land symbolized everything—faith, growth, self-reliance, and a legacy for their children and future generations. Their homestead was purchased in mind for the children to run free and live off the land, and for us to be able to build s home on the land as we aged so they would be able to care for us.
That was their DREAM that became a NIGHTMARE.
They lost it all: the home, the heirlooms, the family memories. Yet Megan and fiancé, always strong, moved forward and in 2023 rented another place, where they remain today, while still paying the mortgage on the damaged property. As the months turned to years, the safety net they built through decades of hard work every bit of their savings disappeared—used simply to survive.
Now, in 2026, they are barely hanging on.
My Daughter’s Battle With Illness
In the midst of surviving, Megan’s health took a sharp downward turn. She was diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)—a rare and devastating chronic illness that affects every part of the body and organs. With her loss of health, it is overwhelming, complex, and has overlapping symptoms. Her MCAS releases chemicals that affect her lungs, gut, brain, heart and all organs of the body. Her life now is unpredictable from a multitude of triggers that can take her life away from temperature changes, food, medications, stress, even the sunlight can trigger severe spells and much more. I never imagined at 72 years old I would see my child fighting for her life, her family and property. Megan has been in a support group since her diagnoses where they have lost multiple friends with MCAS in less than five years of diagnoses. Patients with MCAS typically have a life span of eight years from diagnoses.
I have watched her endure pain and loss no parent should ever have to see. Her voice—once a beautiful gift of song and worship—is now often silenced by the inflammation and suffering that come with this disease. Yet, even when she can barely speak, I see her pray. She tells her doctor and me that her strength comes from faith and hope.
She is raising three young children—ages 14, 16, and 18—who still need their mother’s guidance, laughter, and love. Megan has already known unimaginable grief, losing seven children in her lifetime, yet she continues to love without limits. That kind of strength only comes from Yahweh (God).
My Wife’s Illness and Our Fight Together
In September 2025, our family took another heartbreaking blow. My beloved wife of 50 years, the love of my youth and mother of my only child, was diagnosed with aggressive dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
We never imagined this would be our path. Watching her decline has been deeply painful, but I also recognize the blessing of each moment I still have with her. Megan, my only daughter, brought my wife and me into their rental home to ensure our safety and care. Even in her own illness, she continues to care for both of us—always giving, always serving, even when she has little left to give.
My wife still says with conviction, “There is always hope.” And that hope is what keeps us walking forward.
My Own Medical Emergency
On January 19, 2026, I experienced my own health scare. I collapsed in Megan’s room, thinking I was leaving this earth. My family immediately rallied around me—my grandchildren checking my oxygen, my future son-in-law turning me over, and my daughter praying over me with tears streaming down her face, asking Yahweh to protect me.
By His grace, I survived what turned out to be a heart attack. I am still recovering and trusting that Yahweh (God)will continue to guide my doctors and restore my strength.
Why We Are Asking for Help
As a proud man who has worked my entire life and raised my family to work hard and trust in Yahweh (God), asking for help is not an easy thing to do. But right now, I am watching my daughter and grandchildren fight for stability, health, and hope—and I cannot carry this burden alone.
We are humbly asking for help to keep our family afloat, to care for our medical needs, and to begin rebuilding what has been lost.
Funds raised will support:
• Basic living expenses
• Medical care and medications for our family
• Caregiving needs for my wife, daughter, and myself
• Stability and support for our grandchildren
• Rebuilding a safe, stable home for future generations
• Recovery and rehabilitation expenses
• Loss of income
Every prayer, every donation, and every act of kindness brings us one step closer to rebuilding the foundation of our family.
Our Faith and Gratitude
Through all of this, our faith in Yahweh remains unshaken. We believe He still performs miracles, still restores hearts, and still provides through the compassion of others. To those reading this, thank you—for listening, for caring, and for standing with our family in prayer and support. May your kindness be returned to you in abundance. We have deep gratitude for our American freedoms, for our faith, and for the love that binds us together through every trial.
As it is written in 1 Corinthians 13:
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love (charity), I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
From my heart, thank you for being a part of our journey. We know these days are hard for everyone.
With faith and gratitude,
Chris Gordon Stanley
(on behalf of the Stanley family)
