Help our Sister Shipu to fight Cancer

Fatematuz Johra Shipu widely known as Shipu among her friends and family has been fighting cancer for the past 2 years. She has been undergoing treatment and was almost cancer-free, but recently it came back again. Unfortunately, some of the treatment expenses, including cancer medication and drugs, are not covered by insurance. These out-of-pocket medication and drug costs, along with piling day-to-day expenses, have sadly fallen on the shoulder of Brother Kaysh Mostofa Chowdhury.

Until now Kayesh ( husband ) had to pay for the cancer medication out of his own pocket on a weekly basis. A ballpark amount is let's say 1000-1200 dollars per month for the past 2-3 years. Recently the doctor told them to get ready financially for Immunotherapy (Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that helps the immune system fight cancer). The cost of such therapy is around $1500 plus tax. Let's say $1700 per therapy and a patient needs about 3 therapy a month so that's $5100. On top of that, since Kayesh is not working, his day-to-day expenses are still coming out of pocket, including mortgage payment, household expenses etc. He has to carry on to these expenses until his wife is fully cured and only God knows how long that would be. Just for the information Chemotherapy is covered by OHIP but Immunotherapy is not.

Shipu is also a caring mother of a 5 yr old Arash who has just started School. She is a resident of Orleans, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada where she lives with her husband and only child Arash. Many friends and family surround them in the city; many of them are immigrants from Bangladesh just like themselves.
