Help Our School Grow (EVEN MORE gardens) Together!

Donation protected
EDIT: We had an initial goal of $1,000.00 that you all helped us raise in a matter of days. We are SO thankful for this! That initial money will be used to get the four preexisting beds up and running and to buy the supplies listed below. As stated below, the Environmental Science classes will be responsible for the establishment and upkeep of those beds.

Now that our garden momentum is going, the Environmental Science Club is also going to start four garden beds alongside the four preexisting beds. We have received a donation of seeds for those beds, so we are ready to go there. However, we have to build those new beds from scratch and need all of the supplies, including raised bed soil and compost manure. Please help us raise the additional $1,000.00 we need to set up the new beds for the Environmental Science Club.

Our new goal of $1,000.00 (totaling $2,000.00 when added to the initial goal) includes the following supplies:
12 10ft 2x12 boards ($200)
32 Planter Wall Blocks ($86)
75 bags of Kellogg Raised Bed Soil ($609)
50 bags American Countryside Compost and Manure ($105)

We want to start a community vegetable garden at our school―a Title I high school in Montgomery, Alabama. Though the Environmental Science classes will be the main ones responsible for the establishment and upkeep of the garden, we hope to engage all school community members in its maintenance, harvest, and related educational experiences.

Last year, some of our students got the opportunity to help do some cosmetic gardening in the front of the school. This year, we would like to expand the gardening opportunity to a broader population of students and with a more ambitious project: a raised bed, urban vegetable garden in the back of the school.  This will be an excellent learning experience for all involved and we hope to create cross-curricular lessons that will engross students and teachers in all content areas. Please help us grow (our garden) together!

Our (initial) goal of $1,000.00 included the following supplies:
Rakes
Pruning Shears
Trowels
Shovels
Wheelbarrows
Cultivators
Buckets
Watering Cans
pH meter
Soil moisture meter
Compost
Fertilizer
Seeds (collards, mustard, turnips, spinach, leeks, green onions, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, chinese cabbage, kale)
