Help Our Rachel

Donation protected
Our sweet Rach has been given a heartwrenching diagnosis of ALS and we are reaching out to our loved ones, friends and family, and even those who may not know Rachel to find it in their heart to help fund this page.

In July 2017, after being sick for nearly 8 months, she was officially diagnosed with  ALS (commonly known as  Lou Gehrig's disease),  and often referred to as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to use all extremeties, speak, swallow and breathe.  At this time, Rachel's symptoms include: Almost complete loss of her arms, hands, and legs. She is totally unable to take care of herself and her speech has also been severely affected. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

This is what the doctors tell us. However, we know that if we are able to provide Rachel with the care she needs we will be providing her the strength and support to face this battle head on. As of right now Rach is facing limited mobility in several areas so it is our hope she will be able to use these funds to help her not only in this journey, but in daily life.

This crippling disease can strike anyone and presently there is no known cure. In the mean time, it will cost Rachel and her family an average of $200,000 a year to provide her with the care ALS patients need. This includes weekly PT and massage therapy, necessary renovations to her home for greater accessibility, special transportation to accomodate her full time electric wheel chair, medication, vitamins and 24 hr. assistance from caregivers.

It's hard to put into words exactly what it's like to be near our Rachel. Her infectious smile and warm personality make you happy just to be in her presence.

A wonderful mother to her son Camden Turner who is 19 yr and will be a freshmen this year at Texas Tech, and happily married to her loving husband Greg Bues. Rachel is surrounded by her parents Susie and Stephen Turner, sister Hilary Luter and Greg's wonderful supporting family.

Rachel is a lover of life and collector of friends.

Any contribution big or small will be greatly appreciated by Rachel and her family. Please know that donations can also be made anonymously.

We believe in the power of prayer so please say prayers for our Rach.

Please share with as many people as possible.
